Short answer: Before you list, quote, import, or approve a kitchen sink, ask for a version-controlled product data sheet that identifies the exact sellable SKU, included components, physical and packaging data, supporting documents, and claim owners. A photo, generic catalogue page, or drawing alone is not a reliable product record.
Why sink product data becomes a commercial risk
Small uncontrolled changes can create mismatches between a quotation, warehouse record, listing, installation team, and delivered item. GS1 describes foundational product attributes as the information needed to list, order, store, move, and sell products. For sink procurement, use one identifiable record to govern downstream documents.
What a purchase-ready sink data sheet must identify
The commercial identity
Record supplier model, buyer SKU, supplier identity, exact configuration, revision, effective date, and any identifier mapping. Do not invent a GTIN. Treat each sellable finish or accessory configuration as a separately controlled record or declare its variant rule.
Physical description and dimensions
Link dimensions to the current controlled drawing or approved measurement record. Separate overall dimensions, bowl configuration, supported cut-out or cabinet guidance, net weight basis, mounting conditions, and confirmed material/finish descriptions. State which document governs if a drawing, PO, and sample do not carry the same authority.

Keep evidence with the claim
Link each material, installation, certification, or compliance claim to its evidence and scope. ICC-ES says PMG listing applicants submit materials such as test reports, samples, drawings, installation instructions, calculations, and other data. This is an evidence-pack example, not a requirement that every sink must have an ICC-ES listing. Keep standards, certificates/listings, and supplier declarations separate.
Add the logistics record
State units per packaging level, gross/net weight, external carton dimensions, label/barcode status, pallet pattern, handling conditions, and controlled packing-specification revision. Do not assert test results, container quantities, or import treatment without SKU-specific approved evidence.
Approval workflow
- Freeze the SKU baseline against the RFQ and quotation.
- Reconcile data sheet, drawing, BOM, instructions, carton artwork, and sample record.
- Assign owners, effective dates, and change approvals.
- Release only the approved revision to purchasing, quality, merchandising, service, and logistics.
Common failures
- One model number hides several finishes or kits.
- Drawing, photo, and carton label show different configurations.
- Drain status is not explicit.
- Certification mark has no model scope or issuer.
- Technical document has no revision/effective date.

Please provide one version-controlled product data sheet for each sellable sink SKU, mapping supplier and buyer identifiers, configuration, included/excluded components, drawing revision, packaging data, document effective date, and evidence scope.
